Liberals corrupt, Conservatives are idiots and society let's them get away with it.

     Words have meaning.  How about that for a revelation?
     Do you remember telling a sibling or a friend, "Give it back!".  Why did you say it in the first place?  Because they took something from you.  The did not borrow it or exchange for it, whatever it is, they simply took it.
     Now, what happens when we drop the pronoun "it".  Does it change the meaning or the intent of "Give it back"?  No.  "Give back" in a normative, historical and grammatical sense still conveys the same message as "Give it back".  "Give back" is just vague in the sense of what was originally taken.  "It" could be a ball, piece of candy or a baseball card in the context of our younger years.  In fact, younger children with less developed language skills will say "Give back" instead of "Give it back".
     So, it makes me wonder, why are conservatives such idiots?  Why do they integrate the misuse of language into their speech?  And by consequence, reinforce an idea that is completely, I said completely, antithetical to the principles of freedom and liberty?
     How many times have you heard a purported conservative, usually a successful business person say, "I want to give back to the community", or something similar?  Stop, and think about the presupposition that is the foundation for that statement.  They are saying, "I took something".
     There are only two groups of people that take from others:  Criminals and politicians.  Some may lump them both into one group; criminals.  I will be kind.
     Every time someone says that want to "give back" they are stating that they are a thief.  
     To say "I want to give back" is to reinforce an idea that is held by the Statist left:  Only through luck, coercion, deceit and trickery can an individual be successful in the world today.  Accordingly, success can not come from innovation, hard work, determination ect.  Success is stolen and the State must correct it.
     For the most part, social theorist, or more specifically epistemologist (those who study the meaning of knowledge) are leftist leaning Statists.  Nonetheless, they can and do stumble upon ideas that are "spot on".  Michael Foucault is one of them.  He stumbled across the idea of "language is oppression".  The idea would be described as follows:

that language functions in such a way as to render nonsensical, false or silent tendencies that might otherwise threaten or undermine the distributions of power backing a society's conventions - even when such distributions purport to celebrate liberation and expression or value minority groups and perspectives.(taken directly from Wikipedia)


Next time you hear someone say "I want to give back" 
ask them what they stole and who did they steal it from and see what happens.

If you don't think you are questioning the "power backing" of Statist thought you are wrong.  Statist have corrupted the language and conservatives have let them and de facto are encouraging false beliefs.

Life as I know it today, January 16, 2013.

My heart does not work properly.  The technical term is atrial fibrillatioin.  It is a rather common heart ailment for the elderly.  I am not elderly.
Since it was first diagnosed I have been on more medications than I can really remember.  A procedure called synchronized electrical cardioversion has been preformed many times.  True business; I am on a first name basis with the emergency room doctor.  I am not kidding.
I had an ablation to fix my heart, it didn't work.  I took more drugs, they didn't work. Finally, the end of October 2012 I had another ablation.  I nearly died.
My heart is now permanently out of rhythm.  It does not beat in a regular pattern, consequently my body does not get a regular flow of blood.  It is no fun. Have you ever had the flu?  Just imagine having a permanent case of the flu.  Nausea, fatigue, headache and add in dizzy with a light head.  That is my life.  On one of my regular medical appointments my heart rate was 146 beats per minute and my blood pressure was 89 over 42.  Ask a medical professional how much fun that is.
Yes I am whining.  Yes I am complaining.  I hate it!  I hate that I am 53 years old and I can do virtually nothing.  Let me say it again, I hate it!!  I hate the situation I am in, I hate complaining about it and I am just not having any fun at all.  So, why am I writing about it you may ask?  Simple, it feels good to get it out.
My days now consists of rising early in the morning, getting dressed, fixing breakfast, helping Linda Jo (the worlds best wife!) get ready for her to go to work, finish the dishes, read my bible, pray and then either read, or vent on the computer for about an hour.  After that, I sleep or lay on the sofa until lunch time.
I fix lunch, or one of the moms (Linda's mom or my mom) will pick me up and take me to lunch.  I get a cup of coffee, big treat, and then I lay on the sofa, read or sleep, until Linda comes home from work.
We have dinner, watch a little television and that is it.
For as much as I hate my life's circumstances right now a must admit, they are temporary.  This is just a minor affliction in light of the glory ahead.  Christ came out of the grave and my hope is in that.

God is wrong and the Cult of Man

The only thing worse than bad theology, is bad conclusions drawn from bad theology. Simply because rarely do those who spout bad conclusions consider the underlying theology.
"God Bless Everyone, No Exceptions" is a bumper sticker making it's way around the neighborhood.  I am not sure what the driver's are trying to say.  Certainly they are not trying to say the following:
First, man can tell God what to do.  What kind of God acquiesces to the whims of man?  "God it would be a blessing to me by giving a million dollars."  Enough said.
Second, God has not already blessed everyone.  Apparently there are some people that God has not blessed yet that need to be blessed.  "God, I know what so and so needs, and they don't have it.
Third, man knows what blessings are.  "God, I know what a blessing looks like, and what I got, or what someone else has.....well it aint it."
Maybe what they are trying to say is, well, I really don't know what they are trying to say.
The problem is not with God, it is with man.  Finite man, limited in intellect, space and time shaking his fist at an infinitely wise, all powerful God, and telling Him, "you are wrong".
The cult of man has long been with mankind.  There is nothing new about it.  "I am man" is a correct theological affirmation;  "I am man and therefore I know......" is a sad conclusion.  I know that if I flip the switch on the wall lights will turn on.  "I am man, look at what I have done".  Really?  Isn't it more like, "I am man, look we discovered what was already there"?
Like all cults, the Cult of Man is seductive and sensual.  It will make you feel really good just like sugar.  It is really yummy, until you realize the end game:  death.
God has blessed everybody, man just chooses not to accept it.

Why I do not sleep in January, or is free Starbucks really a good thing?

Last year Linda Jo gave me love from Starbucks. It was a mug that could be refilled for free each day in January.  Of course I am compulsive so I filled it up each day of January, multiple times day.

Conveniently for us there are three Starbucks within a mile of our home.  I  had a regular routine morning and afternoon of free coffee.  The downside course was that I was highly caffeinated and I didn't sleep very well though month of January.

This year Linda Jo gave me more love from Starbucks; another mug for free coffee January.  It is only the tenth of the month and I have been to Starbucks 25 times.  So I have ask,  "Is this free Starbucks really good thing?". 

I also received this cool voice recognition software which I'm testing out right. It's pretty cool.

Arrogance of Authority

Who's safety is more important?  The safety of the public, or the safety of the police who supposedly protect the public?  According to Purdue University police chief John Cox, it's his officers.

The Indiana state senate has a bill in committee that would allow concealed carry on the state's universities.  The Lafayette Journal and Courier, Campus Gun Law, reports Cox thinks it's a bad idea.

Allowing guns on campus “really creates more problems for us,” said John Cox, police chief at Purdue. He said the presence of guns on campus would create a more dangerous environment for police, including making it more difficult to police student parties where alcohol is served and underage drinking can occur.

“We don’t have to worry about (the fact that) several people could be armed,” Cox said. “It creates a safer environment when you go around knowing that the only people who should have guns on campus are police.”

Arrogance comes in all shapes, sizes and belief systems.  But generally speaking it is rooted in thinking more of ourselves than we should.  Police are not omnipresent.  They are not, and can not be every where, with everyone at every minute of the day.  It just doesn't work that way. 

Cox is not the only one worried about "knowing that the only people who should have guns on campus are police".  So are the students. They know, regardless of prohibitions against guns on campus, there is no way to stop anyone from bringing a weapon on to a campus and using it.

Crayle Vanest is president of IU’s chapter of Students for Concealed Carry, a group pushing for passage of these laws around the nation.

“I don’t really believe in being a victim,” Vanest said. “I don’t necessarily think you need a firearm to not be a victim, but I think being on an equal level with just about any level of force that can come up on you is the best.”

At the very least, students who choose to protect themselves would have the right to do so.   Bad guys are going to have weapons; permits or not.

It is understandable for chief Cox to be concerned about the safety of his officers.  But is also understandable the most vulnerable, the students walking the campus, want to protect themselves and I agree.  

What we can learn from Washington and Colorado, or Why Homegrown is Good for You

Assumption #1:  The voting population votes their pocketbook.
Correlation:  If things are good, you want to keep them that way.
Result:  Those in power stay in power
Observation:  Whether you want to admit it or not, the US economy is getting better and it will continue to improve over the next two years.
Proof:  The above graph does a wonderful job explaining why the US economy is improving and why it will contiue to.  We could also reference The Financial Times story,  US Energy Independence , to support the argument, but it really isn't necessary.   Energy is cheap and getting cheaper.  As the price of energy goes, so goes the US economy. 
     We are energy addictics and we finally have homegrown weed to fulfill the need.  Nirvana.
     You may want to complain about the price of gas, which is fine, but that does not mean energy is not getting cheaper.  Do not confuse gasoline, an energy source used to power automobiles with electricity, natural gas, coal, ect that is used to power the manufacturing of stuff.  Lots of stuff at that. No let's say it like it is, more stuff than you can think of. From agriculture to veternairy supplies, we produce a lot of stuff. 
     We are more competitive now than we were 4 years ago.  We have a stable government and standardized accounting practices.  We have access to the biggest capital markets and the technology to support the flow of information and materials.  Where would you want to build a billion dollar oil refinery? Uzbakastan?
      Read it for yourself, Productivity gains November 2012 the resurgence of the American worker has started.
     The only problem is the politicians and main stream media.  We will have to listen to them tell of their heroic efforts to but out the fire when in reality there was no fire, just market forces working to equilibrium. 

Reason is dead, or, why the Left and Right make no sense to me.

A left-friend posted that we should boycott Hobby Lobby because owners will not provide health care insurance for the employees under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (Obamacare as it is commonly referred to, but I just love typing out the whole name sans the note just to drive my left/right-friends nutty.....they don't know what it is!)  Anyways, seems lefty thinks the company is mistreating their employees, so the obvious answer is to boycott the company so they go out of business.  Gotta love the logic - put them out of business so they will start treating their employees better, classic liberalism, in the modern sense, back off Locke and Hume devotees.
Of course, my right-friend sent me a chain email (really? A chain email?  Oh well, they are still my friend) whining that we, I love how people use the plural pronoun when the really mean "me",  need to take care of .......fill in the blank, before we take care of..........fill in the blank.  Because........is more deserving (really?  Deserving?, that's as bad as sending me and chain email) than .........But of course, the right loves it's special groups just as much as the left.  Good old righty, always has his blinders on, pretty soon he won't be able to see anything.
So, like I said, Reason is pretty well dead.  Want proof?  Now you my readers will probably get the joke:  What do you call 47 millionaires sitting around watching the Super Bowl?  The Philadelphia Eagles.
